This an almost monochrome painting, with just a hint of colour in the sky. I sometimes enjoy challenging myself to paint with as few colours as possible, so that the tonal values have to work in order to make the painting come together. Snow scenes are particularly suited to this approach and I was very pleased with the outcome of this strong and deceptively simple composition.
