This painting is me having fun in the studio! I saw a small exhibition by Mondrian, who had painted coloured stripes in various hues and nothing much else….. I loved it and decided to try my own version, using all my blue watercolours in various mixes and tones. I couldn’t resist putting something else in the painting though, and when it came to the final rectangle to fill, I decided an oak tree growing out of the blues would be an interesting addition. Hence the title.
