This was painted after a visit to the Boat Club one evening, in Newport. The sun had disappeared behind the cloud bank and was just highlighting a few clouds low in the sky, before night fell completely . The tide was high and the estuary was almost still, with just the sound of the waves on the beach, audible in the distance.
